The Mid-Season visionary event of the NHL is coming to Long Island. For the 2027 All-Star Weekend, the New York Islanders’ UBS Arena will host Feb. 5 and 6. It will be the first time the relatively young building hosts the league’s All-Star festivities and the second time the Islanders organization has hosted the weekend, after 1983 saw it was held at Nassau Coliseum.
A Fresh Format on Long Island

Ten players, 25 years old or younger, will be participating in a skills competition Feb. 5, which will feature a series of events to showcase speed, accuracy and creativity. Then it’s an international 3-on-3 All-Star game the next night.
A World team composed of players from other countries will be accompanied by the Canadian, Finnish, Swedish and American teams. The round-robin format results in a knock-out between the top two teams, giving the traditional exhibition a competitive twist.
The new format will capitalize on recent successes through best-on-best international play and will serve to provide a more dynamic midseason product for fans. The weekend comes as the arena nears its fifth anniversary, providing a big-time showpiece for the arena and the Belmont Park campus.
Looking Ahead
All-Star Weekend has always been a respite from the regular season grind and a platform where the league’s best talent can come together. That event occurs on Long Island with a modern venue, a youth-oriented skills night, and an international tournament recognizing the worldwide nature of the game in 2027. February brings the stars and the show that goes with them to UBS Arena.
