India grabbed a commanding 5-1 win against South Korea in the semifinal of the AHF Junior Women’s Asia Cup, it was mostly due to this exceptional show from drag-flick specialist Supriya, the kind where everything just clicks.
Early breakthroughs

Both sides came into the knockout match with cautious energy, so the opening phase felt a bit tight and slow. India slowly found their rhythm and broke the deadlock in the thirteenth minute, Madhu Sidar finishing off a well-built attacking move. The defending champions kept up the pressure and won a penalty corner not too long after, in the seventeenth minute. Then Supriya took charge, executing a precise drag-flick and doubling India’s advantage, it really set the tone for what turned into a more dominant overall display.
Tactical control
As the match moved into the second quarter, India were clearly better in possession and territory. In the twenty-first minute, a brilliantly directed aerial ball found an unmarked winger, and the cross into the circle was clean, Sukhveer Kaur converted it smoothly to push the score to three goals. South Korea tried to respond before halftime- but India’s defensive line stayed disciplined and resolute, so they went into the interval with a comfortable three-goal buffer.
Korean response
Right after the restart India didn’t ease off the gas. They kept troubling the South Korea defensive shape. In the thirty-third minute, another penalty corner chance came up, and Supriya showed her technical range again with a second successful drag-flick, making it four-nil. South Korea did manage a reduction in the forty-first minute- when Yuri Jeong converted a set-piece opportunity, briefly giving them hope for a late comeback that momentarily looked possible.
Historic finish
Even with that one goal conceded, India stayed calm and kept- snuffing out the danger. Through the final stretch, the defending champions still moved forward with purpose, not just defending for the sake of it. In the fifty-sixth minute, a late penalty corner gave Supriya one last scoring opening. She delivered with authority again, completing a sensational hat-trick and sealing the 5-1 score, which sent India safely into the tournament final.
